External Audit Confirms a Strongly Pronounced Quality Culture at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol
At regular intervals, the quality of universities of applied sciences is reviewed by external experts: The teaching operations must meet the highest standards. This audit, which must be conducted every seven years, is the basis for maintaining the university's self-governance, which was granted to the University of Applied Sciences (FH) Kufstein Tirol through indefinite accreditation in 2012.
As part of a quality management audit at the beginning of 2023, external reviewers from Evaluation Agency Baden-Württemberg (EVALAG) gained a comprehensive insight into the structure and functioning of the quality management system of the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences. The experts based their judgment during the two-day visit on extensive and informative documents and constructively conducted and open conversations with various very well-informed and dedicated representatives of the educational institution. The auditors concluded that the FH Kufstein Tirol has a very well-developed quality management system in all areas, supporting the university's self-governance. Moreover, the reviewers found that the university's strategic objectives align with its mission statement and that the strategy development process works flawlessly."
Familial atmosphere and personal communication
During the visit, the reviewers observed that the processes and tools in all areas of the university are purposeful and that the FH Kufstein Tirol has established appropriate conditions and structures for quality assurance. The experts noted in their final report that personal communication holds a high value for university members, which in turn is beneficial for quality management. "It is a top priority to maintain our excellent quality standard. However, this can only be achieved together. Therefore, we would like to thank all our staff, students, and teachers for their unparalleled commitment and valuable support," says FH Managing Director Prof. (FH) Dr. Thomas Madritsch.
High quality of teaching and research
The reviewers also noted that the university meets its quality management system standards and enjoys broad internal acceptance. FH Rector Prof. (FH) Dr. Mario Döller on the positive review: "This recognition once again confirms the high quality of our teaching and research and represents our commitment to excellence, reliability, and continued development. We see this as another milestone in our success story and build on it, aiming to grow as a university in the future and continuously improve."
Recommendations for further development
Regarding the further development of quality management, the auditors made some recommendations. "I am especially pleased that, during this extensive and very labor-intensive certification process, all colleagues showed so much commitment, teamwork, and cohesion," says Mag. (FH) Sara Neubauer, Head of Quality and Project Management at the FH Kufstein Tirol. "We lived by our principle 'Quality concerns us all,' and we can be proud of that."
