The following extracurricular language modules are available as an extracurricular course offering students may pursue in addition to their study program:

Level B2-C1

  • Prerequisite: Secure B1 Level in English  

Level C1-C2

  • Prerequisite: Secure B2 Level in English  

Course content

The language modules offered are designed according to the methodological principles of a communicative, action-oriented approach. The competency levels of the modules are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and a central objective is that students expand their communication skills by at least one level through the two consecutive courses, involving 67.5 instructional units each, in the winter and summer semester. In addition, there is a clear focus on acquiring academic and business-oriented skills.



Course goals

Within the framework of the modules, the students will acquire the language and communication skills required for business-oriented professional or academic activity. The following competences are taught according to the CEFR, i.e., after completion of the module, successful graduates will have mastered the following skills in the target language:

  • B2-C1: Independent language use to expert communication skills
  • C1-C2: Expert language skills to fluent, competent communication skills

Upon completion, a certificate is awarded by the International Business School. The prerequisites for the certificate are a positive evaluation and regular attendance (attendence requirement = 80%).

 

Meeting schedule

Weekly, starting September 28, 2023 (Friday-Saturday Modules) or weekly, starting October 11 or 12, 2023 (Wednesday or Thursday Modules):

Level B2-C1

  • Option 1: Fridays after at 2 pm and/or Saturdays; 67.5 instructional units: 50% in person on campus, 30% MS teams, 20% asynchronous

Only suitable for students who study full-time and are flexible on Friday afternoons and Saturdays.

  • Option 2: Thursday afternoon; 67.5 instructional units: 82% in person on campus, 18% asynchronous

Only suitable for students who study part-time and are flexible on one of the weekdays indicated above, either in the morning or the afternoon.

Level C1-C2

  • Option 1: Wednesday afternoon; 67.5 instructional units: 82% in person on campus, 18% asynchronous

Only suitable for students who study part-time and are flexible on Wednesdays in the afternoon.

  • Option 2: Thursday afternoon; 67.5 instructional units: 82% in person on campus, 18% asynchronous

Only suitable for students who study part-time and are flexible on Thursdays in the afternoon.

Fees

  • € 100,- per course per semester for students
  • € 600,- per course per semester for external participants
  • Course materials are not included in the program fee; costs for accompanying learning material (course books, magazines, etc.) shall be borne by the participants.
  • The application is considered binding. Reimbursements are only issued if the course is canceled, for example, due to insufficient registrations. In all other situations, no refunds will be issued after paid registration.

Organisation & coordination

The course offering is organized and coordinated by the International Business School in collaboration with the Kompetenzzentrum Sprachen – Center for Language Competencies of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol.

Number of participants

The prerequisite for language courses is the binding registration of at least ten participants per group. The maximum number of participants per group is limited to 20.

Conditions for participation

Eligibility for participation is effective upon receipt of payment. The invoice will be sent to the participant‘s e-mail account before the course begins.
